1st day: Rome
Arrival at the airport. Welcome of the group and transfer to the hotel. Free time. In the evening welcome cocktail and presentation of the tour with a short briefing. Dinner and accommodation.
2nd day: Rome
Breakfast. Full day guided visit of the Vatican Museums: the Tapestry Gallery, the Raphael Rooms, the Sistine Chapel and the vatican Library. Then visit to St. Peter's Basilica, housing the Pietà by Michelangelo. Free time for lunch.. In the afternoon, guided walk through the baroque Rome visiting the most beautiful squares of the city: via del Tritone, Piazza Barberini, Pantheon, the best preserved pagan temple of the ancient period, Piazza Navona, one of the more fancy squares of Rome with Bernini's magnificent Four River fountain, Piazza di Spagna, and the famous Trevi Fountain, renowned not only for its imposing beauty, but also because of the "Three coins in a Fountain". Dinner and accommodation.
3rd day: Rome - Assisi - Perugia
Breakfast and departure for Assisi, mystical town of St. Francis and St. Claire still surrounded by ancient walls. City tour including a visit to the Basilica, housing important series of frescoes from Giotto and Cimabue. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon proceed to Perugia, capital of the Umbria region. Time at leisure to walk around or to visit the National Gallery. Dinner and accommodation.
4th day: Perugia - San Marino
Breakfast and then departure for San Marino, the world's smallest and oldest independent Republic, founded in the year 301, as a Christian sanctuary, has its own currency, stamps and preserves its politival system. Free time for lunch. Afternoon free at leisure to walk around. Dinner and overnight.
5th day: Ravenna - Ferrara - Venice
Breakfast and then departure for Ravenna. The international heritage of Ravenna, city of mosaics, has been recognised by Unesco. Eight monuments built over a period of 1500 years have been added to the Unesco World Heritage List. What makes Ravenna's monuments a treasure for all humanity is described as follows: "The grouping of early Christian and Byzantine religious buildings in Ravenna is of extraordinary significance due to the supreme artistic mastery of the art of mosaics. The buildings are furthermore testimony of the artistic and religious relationship and contacts of an important period in the history of European culture". Guided visit. Free time for lunch. Continue to Ferrara. It was an important medieval centre and one of the most opulent courts of the Renaissance and it has been entered on the Unesco World Heritage List. Guided visit. Then continue to Venice. Dinner and overnight.
6th day: Venice
Breakfast at hotel and a guided walk in this unique and mysterious city built on islands, visiting the Piazza and Basilica of St. Mark, the Doge's Palace, the Bridge of Sighs and the Prisons. Time free for lunch. Afternoon time at leisure to walk around or go for a gondola ride on the canals. Dinner and accommodation.
7th day: Verone - Lake Garda - Milan
Breakfast at hotel and departure the romantic city of Verona, immortalized by Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” with its world famous roman amphitheater which is one of the best arenas for Opera in Italy. Visit of the evocative square of Herbs and the imposing tombs of the Scaligeri family. After the visit, departure for Milan, passing through Lake Garda, panoramic views. Dinner and accommodation.
8th day: Milan
Breakfast at the Hotel. Guided tour of the city. Visiting the square of the Dome, Gallery Vittorio Emanuele II and the theater La Scala, one of the most celebrated in the world. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and accommodation.
9th day: Bologna - Florence
Breakfast and then departure to Bologna, one of Italy's most important art cities. Visit this fascinating medieval town with its charming squares Piazza Maggiore and Piazza del Nettuno. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon proceed to Florence. Rest of day at leisure. Dinner and overnight.
10th day: Florence
Breakfast. Guided walking tour in one of the most famous cities in the world. Visit the beautiful Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto's Bell Tower, the Baptistery of St. John, the Academy of Fine Arts Gallery housing "David" by Michelangelo, and Santa Croce, the 13th century Franciscan church with Cimabue's famous crucifix. Time free for lunch. Free afternoon in Florence to relax, walk across the famous Ponte Vecchio or go bargain hunting in Florence’s famous open-air market “il Mercato di San Lorenzo”. Dinner and accommodation.
11th day: Departure
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to apt, according with the flight departure time.
